The project
I redesigned and rebuilt Mary Figg’s website around two equally important sides of her work: weddings and elopements, and funerals and memorials. The result is a warm, distinctly Tasmanian site that gives each audience a clear path while staying true to Mary’s own voice.
What needed to change
Mary is a Hobart-based civil celebrant working across weddings, elopements, funerals and memorials — two very different kinds of days that need different language, pacing and emotional tone.
Her new site needed to give weddings and funerals equal weight without making either feel secondary, while helping visitors quickly find the part of the site relevant to them.
It also needed to sound unmistakably like Mary: warm, direct, calm and grounded in Tasmania, rather than slipping into generic celebrant marketing.
How I approached it
I worked directly with Mary through several feedback rounds to shape the site structure, refine the content and build a visual direction around her calm, personal approach to ceremonies.
I created two clear pathways from the homepage for weddings & elopements and funerals & memorials, while keeping a consistent voice and visual identity across the whole site.
I built the responsive site, migrated her journal and testimonials into Contentful, integrated the contact form with Resend, and handled the final domain migration, legacy redirects and production launch.
What I delivered
- A responsive multi-page website covering weddings, elopements, funerals, memorials, Mary’s story, testimonials, journal content and enquiries.
- A Contentful CMS that lets Mary manage journal posts and testimonials without editing the website itself.
- A production contact form with email delivery and basic spam protection, alongside YouTube, Instagram and Google Reviews integrations.
- SEO foundations including page metadata, social previews, sitemap, robots configuration and redirects from the previous Weebly site.
The finished experience

Key decisions
Two audiences, one site
Rather than putting weddings and funerals under one generic services page, the site separates them from the homepage onward so each visitor immediately enters content written for their situation.
Calm over conventional
The visual system uses generous space, restrained colour and photography selected with Mary to reflect her slower, warmer approach rather than the polished wedding-industry aesthetic common to celebrant sites.
Mary stays in control
Journal posts and testimonials live in Contentful, giving Mary an easy way to keep the site current while the surrounding design and structure remain consistent.
The result
- A single, cohesive site where Mary’s wedding and funeral work can sit with equal prominence.
- A more personal digital presence that reflects Mary’s voice, approach and connection to Tasmania.
- A maintainable CMS-backed site Mary can continue updating herself as her journal, testimonials and services grow.
- A clean migration from her previous Weebly site to a modern production setup on her existing domain.
In their words
“From the first discovery call I had with Kaili, I knew I was in safe hands with my new website. She listened carefully to what I wanted and made the whole process feel easy, while ensuring the finished website felt like me. I now have a professional, well-functioning website that reflects who I am as a celebrant and the experience I want to offer my couples. I couldn’t be happier with the result, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kaili.”
