The project
I redesigned and rebuilt Solace’s digital presence, bringing its website, content, publishing tools, domain and email systems into one clearer and more manageable foundation.
What needed to change
Solace supports people and families through death, dying, funerals, education and advocacy in Tasmania.
As the organisation grew beyond its earlier You n’ Taboo identity, its WordPress website no longer reflected the breadth or maturity of its work.
The new platform needed to make a large amount of sensitive information easier to navigate while also addressing legacy domains, redirects, email migration and ongoing publishing.
How I approached it
I worked directly with Bec from early planning through to launch, covering information architecture, visual direction, content restructuring, development and migration.
I reorganised the existing material into a clearer page structure while preserving its depth, tone and purpose.
I also handled Contentful, Google Workspace, mailbox migration, domain configuration, redirects, Mailchimp, Resend and handover support.
What I delivered
- A new multi-page website covering services, advocacy, funeral information, education, resources, media, FAQs, pricing and contact.
- A calm and reusable visual system based on the new Solace identity.
- A Contentful publishing setup for articles, media and frequently asked questions.
- Migration from WordPress and DigitalOcean to Next.js and Vercel.
- Domain, redirect and email migration from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace.
- Mailchimp and Resend integrations for subscriptions and website enquiries.
The finished experience

Key decisions
Clarity without losing sensitivity
The design needed to feel warm and supportive while remaining direct. Clear headings, generous spacing and restrained colour make difficult information easier to approach.
A structure based on visitor needs
The content was reorganised around the questions visitors are likely to arrive with, rather than reproducing the structure of the previous website.
Editable where it adds value
Contentful was introduced for articles, media and FAQs, while stable pages remain in the codebase to keep the platform simpler.
Migration as part of the product
Domains, redirects, email, mailing lists and form delivery were treated as part of the launch rather than separate technical chores afterward.
The result
- A digital presence that better reflects Solace’s identity, services and direction.
- A calmer and clearer experience for visitors navigating sensitive subjects.
- A manageable publishing workflow for articles, media and FAQs.
- A coordinated launch across the website, domain, email, mailing list and legacy redirects.
